ELECTRODIAGNOSTIC SERVICES

Electrodiagnostic testing involves two seperate tests done right here in the office.

The first is called Nerve Conduction Velocity or NCV.  A small current is passed over certain peripheral nerves and the time and speed with which it crosses the nerve is measured by sensors on the skin.  This is the gold standard to diagnosis carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve entrapments and various neuropathy's, especially those associated with diabetes.

The second is called Electromyography or EMG and involves placeing very fine, accupuncture like, needles into the muscles in order to measure and record any abnormal muscle activity.  This test is helpful in determing pinched nerves near the spine that may be caused by herniated disc's or stenosis of the spine as well different sorts of disease's of the muscle.
